Restoring and revitalizing historic downtown districts

established 2006

River Redevelopment, LLC was established in 2006 as a private investment company by Howard A. Perko. Its name is derived from the fact that the historic downtown districts of many western cities are located along river valleys. The owner’s humble beginnings started with the purchase and renovation of two historic residential bungalows located along Laporte Avenue in Old Town Fort Collins, CO. Leveraging Howard’s background in civil engineering, construction, and project management following his passion for historic renovation, he quickly advanced into commercial redevelopment. River Redevelopment, LLC officially started upon acquisition of the first commercial property known as the Sears Trostel Lumber Company built circa 1910 and located at 351 Linden Street. The building was the first major renovation within the strategic River Redevelopment District in downtown Fort Collins, CO. Interestingly, according to the Fort Collins History Museum, the building is located atop the original site of Lt. William Collins headquarters after the Fort at the mouth of the Cache La Poudre River flooded and the town was moved to its current location.

Our Vision

River Redevelopment, LLC has a singular vision to restore and revitalize historic downtown districts in America’s most loved western towns and cities through strategic acquisition, inventive renovation, and intelligent management of core commercial properties.

A healthy downtown is key to a strong community. Downtown’s in many American communities have experienced more than fifty years of neglect, abuse, and abandonment… Downtown’s are iconic and powerful symbols for a city and often contain the most iconic landmarks, distinctive features, and unique neighborhoods. Given that most downtown’s were one of the oldest neighborhoods citywide, they offer rare insights into their city’s past, present and future.
